The Doctrine — the reach toward growth

T here is no faculty that widens a life like Jupiter, the planet of growth and good fortune. Where Saturn contracts and binds, Jupiter expands — it is the reach of a being toward more, and toward whatever it finds large enough to have faith in. The most benevolent of the lights, it blesses what it touches and looks for the larger good in things.

In the outer world Jupiter answers to fortune and increase, to law and religion, to teachers, patrons and the wider social world. In consciousness it is faith, optimism, generosity and the reach for meaning. In the body it is held lightly, as the expansive, nourishing rhythms. Where Saturn is read for what a life must master, Jupiter is read for what a life trusts — and where it is carried and blessed.
