The Doctrine — the tide that dissolves
T here is no faculty that softens a life like Neptune, the planet of imagination and the unseen. Where Saturn hardens and defines, Neptune dissolves — it is the tide that loosens the hard line of the separate self, and the reach toward whatever it finds larger than the self. The most impressionable of the lights, it hears a music below the surface and longs toward what cannot quite be held.
In the outer world Neptune answers to imagination and the arts, to devotion and mercy, to the sea, the subtle and the psychic life. In consciousness it is compassion, longing, vision and the dissolving of hard edges. In the body it is held lightly, as the finer nervous system and its susceptibility. Where Saturn is read for what a life must master, Neptune is read for where a life dissolves — and where it opens toward what lies beyond it.
Neptune holds nothing tightly; it dissolves the edge, and calls the merging love.

The Practice — Neptune through the twelve signs
Neptune is one office — the tide that dissolves and imagines — but it takes on the whole colour of the sign it falls in. Choose a sign and read how imagination and compassion tend to express through it, and how easily or uneasily Neptune rests there.

The Casebook — Neptune in your chart
Now work the way a reader truly works — backward. A way of dreaming or dissolving is described; decide which sign Neptune must be sitting in to cast it. Then read your own Neptune straight from your chart below.
Read the expression on the right, then tap the sign you think it is. No score is kept; a wrong guess costs nothing but the reasoning you build.

The working — {{ liveWhy }}
A tendency of the nature, held lightly — the sign colours how imagination and compassion express, it does not fix a fate.
Where do you feel your Neptune — in what you imagine and long for, where the hard line of the self softens, the compassion that moves you? Neptune is a tendency toward vision, not a verdict.
Where a life dissolves.
Neptune is the tide that dissolves — where a person softens the edge of the self, what they imagine, and the mercy they open toward. Find it, and you have what moves them: the vision, the devotion, the longing that reaches past the visible. Read it as a way of dreaming to be understood, not a verdict of illusion.
“Neptune grasps nothing; what it loves, it lets dissolve into the whole.”
Its Vedic cousin — the same power of imagination and the unseen read against the fixed stars, as a graha of the sidereal sky — is Indra. Same body, a different zodiac laid over it.
