The Doctrine — the changing self
T he Moon is the vessel of feeling. Where the Sun is the enduring self a life is becoming, the Moon is the personality — the changing face that self wears from day to day: the moods, the habits, the instinctive reachings that colour how a person meets the ordinary world. It is the fastest-moving light, and the most impressionable — it takes the shape of whatever it is near, and gives that shape back as feeling.
In the outer world the Moon answers to home and the domestic life, to memory, and to the public a person belongs to and mirrors. In consciousness it is the tidal self — sympathy, imagination, the pull of the familiar, the wish to shelter and to be sheltered. In the body it is held lightly, as the rhythms and fluids that ebb and flow. Where the Sun is read for what a life is here to become, the Moon is read for how it feels its way there — the reflex beneath the will.
The Moon reflects; it makes its own light of whatever falls upon it.

The Practice — the Moon through the twelve signs
The Moon is one office — the feeling self — but it takes on the whole colour of the sign it falls in. Choose a sign and read how the personality tends to express through it, and how easily or uneasily the Moon rests there.

The Casebook — the Moon in your chart
Now work the way a reader truly works — backward. A turn of feeling is described; decide which sign the Moon must be sitting in to cast it. Then read your own Moon straight from your chart below.
Read the expression on the right, then tap the sign you think it is. No score is kept; a wrong guess costs nothing but the reasoning you build.

The working — {{ liveWhy }}
A tendency of the nature, held lightly — the sign colours how feeling expresses, it does not fix a fate.
Where do you feel your Moon — in what comforts you, what you reach for by reflex, the mood you return to when the day goes quiet? The Moon is a tendency of feeling, not a verdict.
The face a life turns to the day.
The Moon is the feeling self — the changing personality a life wears, and the reflex beneath every choice the will makes. Find it, and you have how a person meets the ordinary world: what soothes them, what they shelter, the tide they move with. Read it as a rhythm to be understood, not a mood to be ruled by.
“The Moon keeps no light of its own; it gives back, softened, whatever it is given.”
Its Vedic cousin — the same reflective light read against the fixed stars, as a graha of the sidereal sky — is Candra. Same body, a different zodiac laid over it.
