The Doctrine — the light itself
T he Sun is the giver of life. In the western reading it is not one planet among the others but the centre they all turn around — the source of the vital force and the seat of the individuality: the enduring “I am” behind every passing mood. Where the Moon shows the personality a life puts on, the Sun shows the individual self it is slowly becoming.
Every other planet gains in power when it touches the Sun, for the Sun vivifies whatever it aspects — it gives life to the forms the other bodies stand for. In the outer world it answers to those who hold authority and stand at the centre of things; in consciousness, to dignity, will, generosity, ambition and the sense of one’s own worth; in the body, to the heart, the spine and the vital force that circulates through the whole. It is the light by which the rest of the chart is read.
The Sun is the heart of the sky; every other light borrows something of its fire.

The Practice — the Sun through the twelve signs
The Sun is one office — the will to be — but that will takes on the whole colour of the sign it falls in. Choose a sign and read how the individuality tends to express through it, and how strong or strained the Sun stands there.
Tap a sign on the ring, or drag the planet around it.

The Casebook — the Sun in your chart
Now work the way a reader truly works — backward. An expression of the will is described; decide which sign the Sun must be sitting in to cast it. Then read your own Sun straight from your chart below.
Read the expression on the right, then tap the sign you think it is. No score is kept; a wrong guess costs nothing but the reasoning you build.

The working — {{ liveWhy }}
A tendency of the nature, held lightly — the sign colours how the will expresses, it does not fix a fate.
Where do you feel your Sun — in what you reach for from your own centre, and where do you have to earn the standing rather than demand it? The Sun is a tendency of the will, not a verdict.
The centre a life turns around.
The Sun is the will to be — the enduring self a life is slowly becoming, and the light by which every other placement is read. Find it, and you have the chart’s first sentence: what this person is here to shine. Read it as where they lead from the centre, and let the standing be earned and given, not demanded.
“The Sun does not ask to be admired; it simply gives, and is.”
Its Vedic cousin — the same light read against the fixed stars, as a graha of the sidereal sky — is Sūrya. Same body, a different zodiac laid over it.
