Siddhānta — the ten rules
A chart is not read placement by placement and then summed. It is read through a small set of governing principles — how ripe the instrument, how sound its guardian, how whole the self, where opportunity lies, whether the life mainly reaps or sows. These ten rules are that method: the lens through which every detail in a reading is finally weighed.
Above all stands the first. In this tradition a planet’s strength — its exaltation, its own sign, its mūlatrikoṇa — does not foretell money or a throne. It measures the maturity of the soul that carries it: the faculties gathered across many lives. A weakness is not misfortune but a character-lesson still being worked through. Hold that turn of meaning, and the other nine rules fall into place.

Six of the ten can be computed straight from a chart; the other four — the echoing houses, the nodal karma, the dispositor-chain and the structural rules of reading — are keys Arka threads quietly through its house and node engines.
Prayoga — the rules on your chart
Here the six computable rules are run live on the chart you have cast. Read together, they answer one question the placement-by-placement view cannot: taken whole, how mature, how sound, how whole is this instrument — and which way does the soul presently lean?
Six of the ten give a single whole-chart reading — Rules 1–5 and 10, shown below. The other four are structural keys, not standalone cards: Rule 6 (a house read from the house it echoes) and Rule 9 (a house coloured by its lord’s dispositor) shape how each house is read; Rule 7 (the nodal karma) is read from the Rāhu–Ketu axis; Rule 8 (judge from the Ascendant, Moon and Sun) is applied per matter and feeds the Areas of Life in your full reading.

No chart is cast yet. Cast one in the Full Reading — or in any of the instruments — and it will appear here, weighed by the six rules.
Cast a chart ↗Strength is maturity, not fortune
The ten rules are not a checklist but a temper of reading. They ask, before anything else, what kind of soul is being read — how far along, how integrated, how weighted between reaping and sowing — and only then let the single placements speak. A weak planet is a lesson, not a curse; a strong one, a faculty long earned. Read this way, a chart stops being a verdict and becomes a map of the work a life was given.
